Club History...
Rugby League came to Cessnock in May 1929 when a few enthusiasts arranged a game at Cessnock Soccer Ground. Until this time soccer was the preferred football code in the area.
Interest in league grew, which led to Cessnock entering the Newcastle Rugby League competition in 1930.
The first official competition game was played against arch rivals Kurri Kurri at Cessnock Showground on April 26th, 1930. Kurri defeated Cessnock 5-4.
While not making the finals in their inaugural year the interest for league in Cessnock was evident and the seeds were sown for the future.
